How to sell photos on Shutterstock – Images, footage and Vectors Sell online

Shutterstock is the most popular and largest marketplace to buy and sell photos online. Shutterstock serves customers from 150+ countries and has paid over $500 million to our contributors. Their basic aim is to connect contributors and buyers from all over the world in a single platform.

The Shutterstocks Contributor page is different from buyers page and my focus is just on the Contributors page in this Article. So how it works? First of all you need  to apply for contributors account, submit your samples. You can submit Photographs, vector graphics and footage. Once your application is accepted, you are allowed to sell your stock.

How much money do you earn?

Revenue totally depends on demand and sell. Shutterstock pays very good commissions on sales that are generated  by any of them provided below:

  • Monthly Subscription

The most used Standard License subscription. Buyers subscribe on a monthly basis and can download up to 750 images over the course of 30 days. Shutterstock will initially pay you 25 cents every time one of your images is downloaded, with a tiered set of raises to 33 cents, 36 cents and 38 cents per download as you reach the $500, $3,000 and $10,000 lifetime earning milestones.

  • On demand

This plan allows customers to purchase downloads under the Standard License that can be used anytime for up to a year. An “All JPG and Vector Sizes” On Demand starts at $1.88 per image download, while a “Small & Medium JPG Sizes Only” plan starts at 81 cents per image download. Both increase to different tiers based on the same lifetime earnings milestones as for the Per-Day Subscriptions.

  • Enhanced

These subscriptions allow buyers additional rights to downloaded images for merchandising and high-viewership commercial uses. Your earnings start at 20% of the sale price and increase to 25%, 28%, and 30% based on the same lifetime earnings milestones as the Standard License downloads.

  • Single & Others

For single images, test products, and new products involving per image sales, images will pay out starting at 20% of the sale price and increase to 25%, 28%, and 30% based on the same lifetime earnings milestones as the other Standard License downloads. How to get paid

Shutterstock pays through PayPal, Skrill and Bank Check. The minimum payout for Electronic payment is $75 and $300 through check. So it depends on you how you want to get your payment. Payments are calculated on the 1st of every month and are paid after 2 weeks.
